fog light switch location

So I have read a bunch of threads about installing the jdm fogs etc. My question is how do all 4 switches fit in the dash area? Is it the same with the USDM fog switch as well. I also thought I saw one of the 4 switches moutned horizontally in the dash? What am I missing?

Cheers

To be honest, it would probably be best to pick out one of the switches you dont use. I took out my dimmer switch and replaced it with the fog light switch. If there is a four pod switch, it will be nearly impossible to find.

The JDM fog switch is vertical. This wasn't a problem since the JDm ludes didn't have a sunroof. ALso note, the JDM switch lights up, which the USDM one doesn't.

The USDM one is horizontal, and sits underneith those three but doesn't light up. And you only get the little green "RUN" indicator neon.

ahhh ok then. so unless i want to lose a switch, then i would want the usdm fogkit...then i assume that the mini pocket gets replaced with a panel and switch or does it pop into that pocket like an ice cube in an ice tray?? lol that was the only analogy i could think of...

This is the USDM switch panel. Basically it's a replacement part.

You know the difference between the USDM and JDM fogs

This is the USDM switch and panel

finally a pix!! Thanks! how long did it take you to install? I heard about an hour from someone else. Is there any cutting or removing of the bumper? I went to a local Honda dealer and they outrageously quoted me 414.00 for the USDM kit and 4.5 hours of labor @ 95.00/hour...i was outta there in a flash...

it took me 25 minutes, and you can get the jdm kit from icbmotorsport.com for cheaper with step by step instructions in english. Everything is there and ready to be hooked up. Since it is a honda oem part, there is no cutting, no wiring, no anything and everything has a wire clip. The hardest part was pulling out the switch cluster and putting the fog switch in.

i read those instructions, also bought some lights from ICB. Wasnt sure if the usdm ones would be the same.....Im leaning towards the usdm ones though, mainly so I dont lose the switch, plus i had a pair of piaa 959 projectors and also a projector fog kit for my 95 civic ex and I like the beam more than a standard reflector/h3 kit. BUT i notice that the jdm kit flows better with the front fascia, almost like a mirror image, thats cool too

Well I do a lot of long distance driving, and it helps to dim/turn off the dash lights when you are on the road. Its not a big deal around town though i agree. But at least now i know what the install is like....

hmm... Could you not use the USDM panel and put the JDM switch in it?
In that image of the USDM switch, it looks like next to the fog switch there is a socket blocked off that appears to be about the same size as the vertical switches.
or can the JDM lights be used with the USDM switch?
also if you take the dimmer out, do the dash lights just stay at whatever brightness they were at? or do they change to some default value?

The JDM lights can be used with whatever switch. The JDM lights hook into the light harness in the front bumper, then into the main haarness. You would need the switch harness for whatever switch you choose. Or you will need to be good at splicing wires.

The JDM switch will NOT fit in the bottom of the USDM binnacle. I know, I tried it.

There are write ups for the USDM switch, switch panel and blank plug conversion. That way you don't lose anything other than the pocket.

To do this you will need the parts above as the JDM switch will not fit in the new panel. That panel looks like the one Brash22 posted above, (Minus the coin try below, why don't we get that?).

Here is my set up. Integrated my Escort 8500 mute button into the dummy cover.

If ya need links to write ups on the switch conversion just PM me.

that looks sweet!

the bulb setup on the fogs may not flow as welll as the jdm one, but i would assume the the projector has a cut-off beam pattern like the PIAA 959 & honda civic's up to 95....which is better at cutting through inclement weather imho

I know mate, damn hater!

I don't mind the JDM ones, but for double the price of what I paid for the round ones, I have some degree of uniqueness. I bought a Prelude to be different, so there ain't no f**king way I'm going to make it look like every other modified Prelude in the country.

Also, I quite like being the only one (to my knowledge anyway) in the world with yellow round fog lights on my 5g.

ah well...to each his own. i still think they're ugly :P but ur right, its farkin expensive.

unique is good, i get that. but i cant say its worth the ugliness (sorry i use that word lol)
its like getting really ugly rims for your lude and saying hey, its unique.

:P just a pet peeve. I really wish they'd have not changed it form jdm in the first place.

I run an 85W PIAA 3000K bulbs. Here are some output pics.

Hehe, projector retros are on my to do list. It's a long list atm, that's one of the other reasons I wanna stick with the round ones for a while.

Flyby, I'm actually running the 4g JDM yellow fog light projector unit, which is close enough to a direct replacement for the USDM 4g fog light unit.

And as for you nataku, what can I say? Wheels were a bad example because they are such a personal thing, it's like asking which supermodel you should date, Claudia or Elle. I often say the wrong choice of wheels can kill the whole car, but if the owner is happy then who are we to say otherwise?

Opinions are that, just opinions; and as such can't be right nor wrong. However no need to sh!tcan anybody else just cause theirs doesn't match yours.

No, you're right, like I said, to each his own. Because they are opinions, I think I at least have the right to say that I think they're ugly, just like you can say you think it aint worth the money for the jdm ones.

my wheels example wasnt to justify you having to go get jdm ones, but to me, being unique with fogs aint worth it that way. to me, fogs can kill the car too, but yeah, if you're happy, im not coming down to force you to do anything.

in anycase, the retro's light output looks pretty nice. im gonna hafta save up for that one...
