Problem with door locks

I have a problem with my passenger side door lock. I have to manually open it, when i put the key in the driver side door and turn it, it only unlocks that side. I had a car alarm installed and it's supposed to automatically unlock the doors when i push the button but it doesn't do sh*t ...the headlights and taillights used to blink once as well when the alarm was activated. wtf?? help!

also im tryin to do more posts so i can post pics of my lude on the members rides thread!

i forgot to mention that this car was in an accident a little over a year ago...i was rear ended at a stoplight by a chick who was talking on her phone and changing a cd at the same time and "didn't notice that the light was red". my trunk was in my backseat, and when it was fixed the trunk light didn't work and i think they removed my cruise control...way to support the troops..

Yeah I don't know what to tell you about your situation. Other than if they started removing things from an accident. Also installation of a aftermarket alarm system can also interfere with the car's automatic locks. Some alarms can have a few compatiblity issues. Most alarms are just spliced into the car's wiring and cause interference and the car's computer won't know what its doing because you have two systems controlling the locks. This might be your issue you are experiencing.

My advise would be to chat to a professional mate. I doubt it would have anything to do with your crash.

Their explaination was "You shouldn't have such a nice car" ? I'd say you have some dead beat detectives there. I could think of much nicer cars not that our Ludes aren't nice. But wouldn't a Porsche, or Ferrari, BMW be nice. I mean come on. It's like the cop (pig) yeah that cop deserves that statment. is saying that its your fault because you had such a nice car. What a load of crap. Where do you live and whats the detective's name? Badge number would be good too.

I don't care if someone took something from you of no value it's still stealing. I'd like to talk to that Department and ask a few questions.

since your car had power locks prior to the alarm installation, the car's ecu will never know the difference between a car alarm activating the door locks or someone manually pushing the button. The alarm litterally just duplicates what the switch does. if it is just one side acting funny you need to find out if the 'Door Lock Switches' and the 'Door Lock Actuators' are operating correctly. There are one of each per door lock. Also whether or not the lever has been dislocated from the lock mechanism. when you activate your alarm, can you hear the motor on both doors? What is the deal with the factory keyless entry? give us some specifics and i'll be happy to help you troubleshoot it. The schematic is different between 97-98 and 99-01 models so let us know what year also.

97-98 model FUSES:

A. If your getting nothing from either door lock, check Fuse No. 32 (100A) under the hood. this is not likely b/c you would be having other issues too.

B. If it is just the passenger side, check fuse No. 43 (7.5A) under the hood. I'm not sure if this is the case either b/c this fuse is for the entire passenger side doorlock multiplex controller. If the symptoms are sparadic, it is most likely not the fuse.

C. Driver's Side, Fuse No. 44 (10A). Same as the passenger circuit except this one also has your ignition control doorlock feature built into the multiplexer.

99' Up: need more info before i even bother with that one.
