Hey ladies and germs, when I get my Cat and Exhaust welded on, to what, exactly, should the Cat be welded? To the header? I certainly hope not...

to the flange that bolts onto the header behind the flex pipe, you should be able to use the stock flanges just cut the cat out from between them, grind them down and dremel them out to the diameter of your new cat, (assuming that you went bigger)

I was actually considering paying a reputable shop around here to weld my cat and exhaust on. Dont want no Effin leaks.

P.S. So the header isnt dirctly connected to the cat, then...good.

well the flex pipe is the last part of the header right before the flange. the the cat bolts to the header with its own flange, so yes, the cat is bolted directly to the header.

Okay, the reason I ask is...if i get my cat and exhaust welded together...Will i have to cut the header from the cat if/when I decide to get my header? I'm just trying to make this process as painless as possible.

And is it worth it to get the cat and exhaust welded on?

if you get the CAT welded to the CAT-BACK, then yes you can still unbolt all of that when you want to install a header since the cat bolts to the header with 2 flanges.

if you do get everything welded together (header to cat, cat to cat-back) then this will gaurantee no exhaust leaks at all.
however... if you EVER need to do any work that involves unbolting the header (or anything on the exhaust system for that matter) such as taking the oil pan off, lower cross-member, tranny, etc.... its not happening since your entire exhaust system from the engine to the muffler is 1 piece.
