F/I help

Ive decided to boost my 97 base lude, and im looking for a little advice. Everyone has been so helpful its really more then i expected. Ive read pretty much all the threads about F/I and yea i used the search button. Im lookin at turbo kits and I need advice on what kits you guys trust or here have good experiences with. Right now it will be on stock internals so im looking at the 7psi range. Also Id like to stay around the $3000 range. Also reputable sites to purchase them from. I also plan on using some type on EMS either hondata, chrome or AEM, your input on these would also be helpful. I plan on doin all the work myself with the help of some fellow mechanical engineering students. Again thanks for help.

Well from my looking around, I plan on doing the same boosting my 97 S model. I have seen a GReddy kit on their website around 3 grand. Says its safe to use on stock motor. I think its' running around 8 psi. About the ECU I think you will have to switch your ODB II to ODB I before you add the hondata, I could be wrong. Your turbo kit will come with everything neccessary for installation from what GReddy's website says. If you click on the kit it will show you all the parts lists and its way long plus it has a PDF installation guide.

About turbos and boosting, I am reading a technical manual on turbos to gain knowledge of turbos and how they work. I'm doing it for my own personal gain. Also so I know what I am getting and not get snowballed.

Even though these kits say they will work on stock motors, I am going to find a spare H22A4 and build it. Upgrading the rods, pistons, valvetrain, ignition etc. Just in case I want to upgrade the turbo later down the road. Plus too I will know that my motor will be strong, most of these Prelude are hitting at or around 100,000 miles on it. Now boosting this without knowing your compression on all your clyinders and what kind of shape your motor is in. Because I'd say if your motor is weak, boosting it will only cause it to fail a little sooner.

Yeah ive looked at the greddy kit, but it doesnt include an intercooler. I have already done a bunch of research on turbo and turboing cars and i understand how they work. Yes i will have to use a OBD2 -> OBD1 conversion i think im going to go with a p72 ecu. And as far as building up a motor, i would love to do it but money is a little tight right now. I was planing on turbokit this winter then rebuild the motor over the summer.
