Manual Trans problem 1,3, and 5

New to this forum and have been searching everywhere to point me in the direction of how to go about fixing this problem or finding out what the problem is. Recently I ripped it through the first 4 gears and when I slowed up and went and gently put my car into 5th gear it felt very spongy and like it didn't go into 5th(but 5th gear still worked to my surprise). After stopping at a red light and putting car into 1st gear I noticed that 1st felt the same as 5th and then when I went and put it in 3rd gear it felt very spongy just like 5th gear is. Going into 2nd,4th, and reverse feel normal but all forward gears feel very spongy and sloppy like it isn't going into gear, but it does go into gear(hope that made sense). Thinking something with shift linkage may be jacked but no sure. So before I dig into the problem I figured I would see if anyone else has had this problem before.
Thanks for any and all input. Much appricated
