3.5mm AUX Adapter

I've always been a fan of keeping the interior looking as stock as possible, but not having a way to play music off my cellphone is unacceptable. I found this ADAPTER and its everything I could have hoped for. This uses the port on the back of the stock radio where the 6 disc changer would have connected. I'm very happy with the under $25 dollar purchase.

Re: 3.5mm AUX Adapter

I wish I could find something like that for the Z, and the Subie.

The lude I'd definitely pick one of those up for.

These came from China. Shipping took a little while. I'm surprised you haven't found anything for your vehicles. They have a strong fan base.

Re: 3.5mm AUX Adapter

I'm only one of two or three people in the Z community who are investing in maintaining (or restoring in my case) the original Bose sound system in their cars. The vast majority say "yo bro rip it out and get a touch screen brooo". I stubbornly cling to my tape deck. Heh.

I read a blog where a guy got a 1990 specific Bose head unit to accept aux input, but it involves modifying circuits. I may "get there" some day.

Just to put the stereo system back to 1990 specs has been expensive (north of a grand in parts, some working, some spares). I had to go as far as to learn about electronics so I could diagnose and fix problems myself. I've had aftermarket in the car, and nothing looked right. I found that everything looked too new, which stuck out like a sore thumb in a retro interior, and made the interior itself look old(er) and cobbled together. 90's interiors just don't suit chrome or bling.

There are a few exceptions though. A double din screen looks good in both the Z and the Prelude, I guess because the certain models of Prelude in Japan did have a screen there. The Z interior, which is similar to the NSX, also suits a screen. The only reason I would use a screen is for navigation, but, I don't use nav that often to justify the expense.

I will definitely be going with one of those adapters for my Prelude. I don't plan on ever changing out the head unit. It fits the car, it looks good, and, it sounds alright. The only thing I would consider adding is the in dash phone under it, just for looks.

Kudos for keeping it clean and bucking the trend.
