tranny problems

well....the tranny is acting funny on me. i have a 1998 prelude, auto tranny, and its lurching. it has to get to 2k rpm before it will move and when in drive, the car will roll like its in neutral. i was at a light and rolled back until i smashed the gas. its like im just learning to drive a stick and suck at the clutch but its an auto!! what could be going on?

hate to tell ya but, that may be the internals of the tranny slipping...i had that same problem, but mine would slip durning the switching of the gears...my rpms would be at 4000, i would shift and it would rev up to 6-7 then idle back down...if need be, MAKE SURE TO DO A 5SPD SWAP!!!LOL...cost the same as a auto rebuild, at least here in va in some spots..

but up until it started doing this, everything has been fine....i havent had a problem with anything. its not slipping between gears, only when it engages in reverse or first....it seems to do nothing until it hits 2k rpms, then it starts moving. going between gears is just fine. maybe a vacuum hose? anyone have a diagram?

Sorry mate, but CHILLZ's right. The autos are notoriously weak. Perfect excuse for a 5spd swap.

Hey man...my dad's 95 Accord LX has an auto tranny...never had any problems with it....300K miles on the original engine and tranny.
Shifts a little hard, but not problems...
