Hydro Dip

I bought some hydrographic film off ebay. I didn't like how it turned out, you can see how the pattern stretched during the dip. I will sand it down and try again. I know you can buy these parts from Honda but these supplies cost me less than $50, and I want to do a silver interior theme. Also, the finish product will look much different after clear coating.

What do you guys think? Anyone ever tried this before?

Re: Hydro Dip

Re: Hydro Dip

Thanks. I'm just trying to get the squares to look more uniform in appearance. This was my third attempt and I've been getting better. I'm going to connect the two pieces with a couple dowels for rigidity and dip them at the same time. Fingers crossed its the last time.

Re: Hydro Dip

I sanded the trim down and gave it another try. I did way better with keeping the pattern tight, but I got some contaminates in the dip this time. I'll sand down and give it another try. I think I need a larger dipping container, and to use more activator or let it sit longer.

Re: Hydro Dip

Dipped the parts for the last time. I'm satisfied with the results. Right now they are in the garage waiting for the clear coat to dry. I'll post the finished product tomorrow.

Re: Hydro Dip

The enamel is dry enough to handle. I'll still wait till tomorrow to install everything. The parts have a nice glossy shine.
