Wheel hub replacement - 2000 Prelude

Hi all,

A new member here! I've got a 2000 Prelude, and have got a quick question. I need the front wheel hub replaced after the vehicle was in collision. And I was wondering, whether it's fine to get only one replaced, or I need to buy a set of four (or two for front). By the way, it's got 5 lugs, not 4 (if that matters). Also, I am looking at aftermarket wheel hubs, as I like prices and I believe these are not much different from the OEs...

Any help is appreciated!

Are you sure you just need the hub, and not the whole knuckle assembly? If literally just the hub was damaged, you can replace just that. I'd also put a new bearing in and check the lower ball joint while you're at it.

Re: Wheel hub replacement - 2000 Prelude

Hi, and thanks for the warm welcome, man!
Yea, I was told that the hub assembly only has to be replaced... So I guess I will grab a hub and new bearing to be on the safe side (https://www.carid.com/wheel-hubs/)... I will have my Prelude fixed in the shop. And these guys told me that only 1 hub has to be replaced, but wanted to double check with you guys, just to be on the safe side.
Cheers!

If only one hub was damaged then that would make sense to replace only one. However many people like to replace things as a whole or a set- if the others have a lot of mileage. But personally I find the; "if it aint broke don't fix it" approach to be the best. I've had varying results with 3rd party parts. Things such as bearings and such it often pays to either go OEM or a decent 3rd party like Timken or Moog.
