Engine swap question.
Son's 1998 base model was just totaled. It didn't look like much but it ran really well. It has a H23a from and Accord in it. We are looking for a shell to swap the motor into, and I know it would work in another Accord. My question is what other Honda's could we swap he engine into without a lot of modification? Looking for a plug and play. Will it work in a Civic? It is also a manual.

Re: Engine swap question.
Sorry to hear about the accident.
The H23 will bolt into a 88-00 civic chassis by means of an aftermarket bolt in kit that Hasport and Innovative mounts make. I think it would be best to keep it in chassis that engine platform is made for though if you don't want to deal with custom pricey parts such as engine harness, mount kit, ECU, etc.. Up to you though =) H23's will bolt into 90-02 accords (with the proper oem mount/bracket combo) and they're native to the 92-95 prelude chassis. 90-02 Accords didnt come DOHC here in the US, not sure if you got your info mixed up. I come from a civic/integra motor swap background so I can offer some help based on which way you want to go. |

Re: Engine swap question.
its not 100% plug and play in civics or teggys. different mounts, traction bar, wiring as well would be needed. prelude / accord are more just drop in

Re: Engine swap question.
I think the engine was a a jdm swap. I will get the numbers off of it tomorrow so maybe that will help. From what I have read so far, I don't think we want to try the Civic swap. We are just trying to think this through and see what options we have to get him some wheels to get him back and forth to work. We are definitely pulling the engine and trans and try and part out as much as we can regardless whether we try and put it in something else. When we are not looking we see Preludes all the time for cheap with blown motors. Not many out there right now and the few we have found are automatics.

Re: Engine swap question.
Auto to 5 speed swap isn't very hard just time consuming and all the holes are already in place for what isn't there. There was a 4th gen for sale in ocala area for 900 5 speed
