Crankshaft position sensor

To anyone that can help,

I have a 2000 Lude (226,691 miles)(manual transmission) I love my car and want to hold onto her as long as possible but her reliability is starting to scare me. When I'm driving the RPM gauge starts going ape **** and the car begins to sputter. A couple of times the car has turned off on me on the highway, luckily I just re-engage the clutch and she turns back on. My mechanic read the code for the crankshaft position sensor and replaced it for me, and this did the trick for a while but she started doing it again. So we changed it a second time, which was a temp fix and then a 3rd time we changed the crankshaft position sensor, this time with one directly from Honda. Now she is starting to do it again!! It's not turning on the check engine light so I'm lost on what it could be. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Crankshaft position sensor

It might be the ignitor in the distributor or maybe the coil. Have you ever changed those parts before?
