Icon9 Check Engine Light :(

Well, today when I got in my car, I noticed that the check engine light was on. I checked my oil and it was pretty low. I filled it up, but the lighgt is still on... Honestly, I'm kinda worried. Anything I'm overlooking here?

Which o2 sensor is it?
If it's the primary GET IT FIXED!
You can drive it if the secondary is bad, but your fuel mileage will suffer and you'll get carbon all over the back of the car.

Untrue. The secondary doesn't do anything except monitor post cat exhaust. If it reads out of spec, it throws a code to tell you somethings up. Other than that, it doesn't effect how the car runs. And I have a feeling that unplugging the battery and resetting the light did more than 3 cans of injector cleaner and oil stop leak

cel on

HEY just take a paper clip to the blue connector next to the kick panel.. the one with two connections not three and just jump the circuit and look at the light flash and count the number of times that it flashes. and that should be the code and hopefully it;s something simple like an o2 censor hope this helps

well, i went through the same thing...my 02 sensor "bank 1 sensor 1", went bad, and killed my gas mileage and the cars performance slightly...and watch out cuz when one goes bad usually the other isnt too far behind...my other one went out about 2 months later....and dont get a cheap universal 02 unless your gonna splice the wires by yourself, get the one thats car specific, about $180(for the bank 1 sensor 1) the other one is about $30...

im getting horrible gas milage and ya it seems like there is more then normal carbon coming out of my exhaust. i tried the wire jump thing and there was no blinking of the cel (my cel doesnt come on as soon as i start the car, app. 2-3 mins. after, seems like when i let it idle it comes on) and tried unplugging the radio fuse to reset my ecu.

Re: Check Engine Light :(

When my CEL went on I found out my O2 sensor was bad as well. I figured if one went, the other was bound to go so I bought both and replaced them. The NGK/NTK ones are fairly cheap off Amazon and are good stuff.
