Icon5 No power to the distributor... 2001 Prelude

Hey Guys,

My wife was driving during heavy rain and sucked some rain up through the intake. We had a buddy helping us and he said we needed to take the head into a machine shop to have it repaired/refinished. We did that and our buddy put it all back together but now he says it isn't getting power to the distributor. And he moved out of town.

Any recommendations on what I should check first?

Thanks,

2001 Prelude AZ

I'm having the same problem except I was just driving and the car died on me. I'm not getting any power to the distributor. Whenever I try to start it keeps turning over but theres no spark. I checked my ignition coil today and its good. Its probably easiest to take that off first and check that. From the codes I was pulling with my scanner I only got something about a knock sensor? but I suppose now its probably best to check the distributor first.

Even if the knock sensor is inop, he would just have a code and the ECU will set the timing to a really conservative level but the car would still run. At least thats the way mine was. Do you have a factory service manual? There is a really good flow chart for troubleshooting this problem.
