Is there a keyfob alternative ?

I bought my prelude with only 1 key sadly it was worn and had to get a new one made for $100 but I want to save wear on my new keys and use a key fob :)

Obviously I didn't get one with mine I have checked the wreckers with no luck and places like craigslist with no luck as well =(

I know the model is A269ZUA101 correct me if Im wrong 1997 honda prelude 2.2 base.

If I use something like a remote starting system with lock unlock and start how do I do that while having the original immobilizer ?
Seems id have better luck installing remote start than finding an original fob for under 100$ that isnt a cheap knock off

Basically looking for any help with a solution to my keyless entry so any help would be very appreciated :D

Re: Is there a keyfob alternative ?

Fob will work if only if your car originally had one - if im not mistaken

Just get an aftermarket alarm. Doesn't even need remote start installed, although it is a nicefeature.

I never used my remote start, just the fob for it. I had my original installed still as well

I believe the 97-98 Prelude were factory optional for remote unlocking.

That could mean your doesn't have the hardware for it. I agree with wing8806, just get an aftermarket one.

How can I tell if my prelude came factory with a fob or not ? I know I have an alarm horn in the top corner on the drivers side under the hood and I have a red light that goes on when I lock my doors all the signs that it should to indicate keyless fob came included but if not how simple is it to run a alarm keyless entry to the car ?

Bump for interest in the same question. When I bought the car it came with two keys, but no fob. It'd be nice to buy a fob instead of an entire alarm system.

You had an aftermarket alarm installed at some point.

I forget where to look for the module under the dash - you can either search around for what it looks like and check, or get a honda fob and try to marry it to your car (not difficult)

if it doesn't connect and work, you don't have one.
