Tire Size on 17x8.25 +35 XXRs

Hey guys,

Looking at a set of XXR 535s 17x8.25 +35 for my black 2000 base.
XXR 535 17x8 25 5x114 3 35 Chromium Black Wheels Rims | eBay

I can't decide whether I want to do 215/40, 225/40, or 235/40.. I want to do 215/40 because Tirerack has a set of 4 on sale for only $84 a piece. I've been researching for the past few days and some sources are telling me 215/40 would have too much stretch but some say it won't be too bad. I'm afraid to run 235 because of rubbing issues but I'm not really sure, and I don't know where I would find 225/40, most vendors just have 225/45, but that makes the diameter larger. I've already googled a bunch for pics with these tire/wheel specs but not enough on a 5th gen.

I am lowered about 4''

Anyone on here running these sizes on 17x8.25 or similar? Any input you can give me? Just looking for some more opinions really. Thanks in advance!

Hey Importjunkie,

I was actually looking into xxr 527's for my base 2000 prelude and they have the same specifications. (17x8.25 +35)

Look at here - Recommended Tire size & Offsets! for the appropriate tire specifications you will need.

Importjunkie what did you decided? I was talking to a guy here the other day looking for 225/40 but end up a 225/45 as much recommended with better sidewall which is much comfier especially on rough road imperfections. He got Nitto Invo
