Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

Could be the old valve adjustment thing. Could be an injector...doubtful it's the coil.
It's your car telling you not to leave it running unattended at a store!!!

Eh, just kidding.

How old are your wires? Ensure each is fastened correctly. If you can swap wires 1&2 to see if it changes anything.

It might be what you feel between shifts...

Try some injector cleaner in your gas tank. Cheap and may work.

What does 'smh' mean? I'm old, and don't know these things.

SMH mean shake my head like dissapoinment lol wires are new about 2 months, plugs a hr old lol tripple checked wires there on good, im leaning towards the egr, ill try cleaning it tomorrow swapped plug wires also, didnt change a thing, from a cold start idle starts and 1400 drops slowly when warming up, and thens when you really start to feel the missfire, talking to wing8806 now, and hes being a HUGE help, all trial and error from here out..

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

bro i was just dealing with the same issue with cylinder 4 missfire and flashing cel, small pooping sound coming from the muffler. hold a piece of paper at the end of the muffler tip and if it begins to suck it in, then its probably something with the valves like my case. my culprit was with the valves in cylinder 4. they were either burnt, or stuck or something.

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

flashing CEL. Cylinder 4 misfire really hard to diagnose. Please help! thats a link to my thread i posted not too long ago with the same deal. i got my egr ports cleaned and it did nothing but make the missfire feel worse, turned out to be the valves and my car is currently in the shop getting fixed.

Youtube vids you have 3 options when uploading.. public, hidden, or private.. if you have it set on private, only you can see the vid.. hidden means it wont be listed or shared unless you give the link out and public is well.. publicly listed and available for anyone to see

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

New guy here. I am having the same problem. Its comes down to pulling the head. I got a sensor code, egr code and misfire. I did the 2 sensors (located behind DR front wheel), new belts, water pump, spark plugs, wires, dizzy, egr, new egr ports, injectors cleaned and adjusted one valve (also soaked cylinder with combustion cleaner and then put a cap of oil) .

After that still had a misfire. Car been sitting until I can get around to pulling the head.

I thought of this thread. But tod has been doing so much 'shake my head' lately I didn't want to be the barer of potential bad news.

Wings will set you on the right path tod. I spell it with 1 D because the second one is silent and offers no value for phonics like an E would.

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

Good luck troubleshooting. My car was out of commission for 2 months and still is untill I get it back from the shop. It went to 3 mechanics ( uncertified but didn't charge me because they didn't find the problem) until I took it to an ase certified shop who found the problem in less than an hour saying its my valves on cylinder 4 and one of the guys told me about the paper to muffler tip that I'm telling you about. I wouldn't bother doing the egr job unless you're trowing a code for it. In my case I did it because I've had the egr code for a long time and I was holding off on the job, then I had the job done after the missfire happened because I thought it was the solution to the problem, but it was not. Anyway, I hope it's not a problem with you're valves Because it's costing me $1400 for the valve job and my car has been at the shop since wensday, I'll be getting it back Mostlikely Tuesday with a freshly machined head,Good luck bro.

Such language, young man! lol

Here's hoping it's just a malfunctioning lifter or clogged injector and not burnt valve

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

yeah this is the worst case, but hope it doesnt come down to that, i appreciate the input tho, not going to be able to do anything today, since everything is frozen and its to damn cold out, did it just happen all of a sudden? or did it start little and become worse?

Re: another problem!! cyl 1 miss fire!!

Great news!!!

I still say the EGR code is from large amounts of unspent fuel being recirculated..vs the typical miniscual amounts the EGR typically senses in a normal operating induction system. Could be wrong though...
