If I disconnect my negative terminal from the battery and install a aftermarket radio I won't need a security code right?

That code goes with that head unit.

Now your newly acquired head unit may require a code as well...but it would be one specific for that head unit.

I come from a time when you could get 'just a radio' for your car. But these days what you get is an entertainment center with a built in radio lol. So I call 'em a head unit...

After 2 hours ew-ing and ahh-ing my first smartphone a few years back, and marvelling at all it did I eventually had to figure out to place a phone call with it...then hang up.

Same goes for these new car stereo units..to change the radio station or even turn the darn thing on/off on certain units can be daunting for those of us from the Geritol generation.

(Btw; Geritol was an old old version of Red Bull.lol)
