Buying a rebuilt 4 speed?

Ill probably get a lot of hate for this, but I actually LOVED my SS before it went out. I never had any problems smoking 5-speeds. Sure id rather have a 5-speed but the fact of the matter is, I cant afford the swap. Has anybody put in a rebuild and not had problems? The rebuilds im looking at come with a 3 year warranty, inline filters and fluid coolers but ive only ever heard of people having more problems after the swap. Anybody have any experience with this?

My lude snacks on civics haha, and mustangs and the occasional evo. The only roads around here are are loaded with 25 MPH corners that I can take at anywhere from 75-110 with my racing suspension.

Re: Buying a rebuilt 4 speed?

you probably raced a lancer and thought it was an evo or he simply wasn't wasting his gas.. but anyway i think you should 5 speed swap and that is solely based off the fact that even with a rebuilt auto trans it still has a higher rate of failing. I also have all the stuff you need to do a 5 speed swap but you need to source your own 5 speed transmission because it will cost extra do to weight. id sell the entire swap you need for 350 + shipping

LOLOLOL a 5-speed in decent condition for $350? That's about what it costs to go pull one out of a junk yard here, that's including the clutch, and flywheel assembly. Im not putting anything in my car that doesn't come with a warranty. Oh and I know what an Evo is. Did Mitsubishi even make a regular Lancer in 2013? Ive never drag raced one, always 40 roll, he'd smoke me off the line with AWD. You cant find a 1/4 mile straight stretch of road around here that's safe to race on, unless you race through tiny side streets and im not really to interested in hitting somebodys kid running across the street.

Eh, send it Honda...they could use some good test drivers...

I'm kinda familiar with high speed turns...

I think my car has a few parts from a junkyard car with koni yellows...
hmm was it the crashed one or the one with busted auto? Oh, that's right it was one of each.

Go with a Howard Engineering auto tranny. Expensive but better parts than Honda used. Really. When Honda was footing the bill for some 01 warranty trannies they used Howard Engineering units.

I offered to post videos but clearly none of you are interested in solid proof lmao. Crazy stiff suspension goes a long way, I'd think that with all of your apparent exprience you'd know that. And a lot of it has to do with the driver. Your car can do impressive things if you have the balls to try it.

I bought the car for $1000 with the broke tranny, actually. The fluid had NEVER been changed after 200k miles, I changed the fluid, it knocked all the grim and metal shavings into the filter and then when out completely. You guys real assholes just assuming things like that haha. Im amazed actually. Oh and that was super on-topic huh? I thought the point of this forum was to help eachother out, not act like wanna-be macho 12 year olds with small dick syndrome crying, my car is better then yours!!!! Who cares? drop you're ego, its the internet.
