warranty?

So I just picked my car up from the local honda dealer yesterday, I was having new shift cables installed because I was bangin some gear and snapped one. Cost me $230 for labor, parts were $420 but I bought them on hondapartsnow.com for $320. But not 24 hours later driving home from summit racing, which luckily is only 15 minutes away (3 in the whole world and i live 15 minutes from one!) my heater core hose has ruptured, parts stores cant have one till monday, honda service department closed at 3:30 and wont be open till 7:00 monday morning.

Its only $16 and not too hard to replace but its a pain in my butt and I have to wait till monday anyways, might as well save $16 and a half hour in the cold if I can right? I know they removed the hose because its directly over the cables.

Will honda cover the parts and labor on the hose?

Re: warranty?

I've changed shifter cables, never damaged the heater hose nor removed them. The cables run under the car not through the firewall or anything....

Re: warranty?

I could have done it myself in the summer when I did the engine swap, it would have been easy then, but I also didnt need them then. With a foot of snow and sub zero temperatures I decided to have them do it for me. I mean where the ends of the cables in the engine department connect to the transmission, that is right below the heater core hose going to the side of the block, I wasnt their to watch them take it apart or put it back together and I can see that they may not have needed to remove it because it doesnt exactly make it hard to remove or install the cables and cauder pins. Probably was just a coincidence and they will tell me its a normal wear item and im on my own. I was just hoping someone has had experience with repairs under warranty and knew if they would honor this, because they arent open for me to ask

Re: warranty?

Any time you're looking at how a professional shop does repairs, you have to look at the car from above and below. No one's going to reach through the engine compartment to get at something on the bottom when they can put the car in the air and work on it without interference.

Re: warranty?

So I put the new hose in without pursuing honda, parts store got the wrong part monday so I had to wait till tonight for the correct hose. $25 and a half hour in the cold. Fired it up and let it run, moved it back to shovel snow out from under the nose of the car and found lots of oil soaked snow so I went from above to below. Discovered it is my oil cooler o-ring. I guess im gonna have to wait another couple days to drive my poor lude, tired of my gas hog ford pickup
