There are turbo 5th Gens

I saw this thread listed below, it is locked otherwise I would posted to correct the information in the thread below.

2000 Honda prelud turbo project

However, the moderator stated that no 5th Gen Prelude was "ever, EVER" turbocharged and that is not true.

During my time there have been several 5th Gen turbo builds. With powers ranging from mild 300whp to 600whp builds.

I am posting this to correct misinformation and to show proof that there has been turbocharged 5th gen Preludes, and to keep 5th Gen owners dreams of modifying and turbocharging their Preludes.

It is not an easy task, it takes a lot of resources and dedication to dive into a project like this.

For proof pictures are listed below:

Re: There are turbo 5th Gens

Nick was basically being sarcastic.

It comes up often. And the thing is, usually it's somebody who has no clue how to, has made no effort to learn and asks members of a forum to spoon feed them every crumb of know how.

I'd advise you not to get smart @$$ with a moderator on your first post...'cause it could be your last...

Re: There are turbo 5th Gens

mykizism has been around the scene longer than me and nick combine

the work done to this mans bay is very well executed and guaranteed to have more time/professionalism involved than the on the fly work i've done

Nick is a little trigger happy on locking threads, just how he is.

Re: There are turbo 5th Gens

What!?!?! There are turbo 5th gens??? I didn't realize anyone had done this. Surely this is one of a kind.

Maybe with this new information can I suggest some changes to the site? I think we could make a dedicated area to talk about turbo's, maybe under general tech talk. It could go right at the top above N/A and nitrous. Maybe as people start to take up this radical new idea they could write about their experiences under the members rides section. While we're making huge changes to the site can I suggest implementing a sticky function so that important information like this be kept at the top where everyone can have easy access to it? There should also be some sort of search function implemented so that people can easily find all of this new exciting information. Is there any way to make it so that Google can find information in this site and others too? I'm not a computer expert so I'm assuming all of this would be very difficult to construct otherwise everyone would be doing it.

Also, Shhh, don't tell the Civic guys that you can turbo a H-series either, they'll want them all to themselves. We'll start seeing all sorts of turbo (and even N/A) H22's mated to B-series transmissions and thrown in anything that will take it. I'm sure this has never been done either.

Seriously though, that is a sweet 5G and I don't want to diminish all the time and money that's been spent on it, but do you HT blokes think we're stupid over here???

It could be called forced induction perhaps?

Ohh, I see... My intentions are not hostile, if I am coming across being a smart @$$ that is not what I am trying to do. There's is a reason why I stopped posting on various boards is because the general population's attitude is full of bad mannerism and a lot of trolling.

I can see how a lot of new members expect to be spoon fed and I understand that can get old quite fast. During my time on the boards, I helped a lot of people with advice and majority of the time they didn't spend time to learn what was needed they just wanted me to answer all their questions for them.

However, over the years the mentality to tell people to search, as the information is probably there, it has become a lot harder to find good information since majority of searches come up, with other threads of un-knowledgeable people asking for help with a member just telling them to search.

Ahh, I see. From reading his post I genuinely thought he believed that there were no 5th gen turbo builds.

No, I don't think you guys are stupid over here. Without places such as these forums, my knowledge and my Prelude wouldn't be what it is today. And for that I am thankful.

The point of creating this thread was to show a bit compassion for new members and people who don't know a whole lot about cars.

If they are not willing to do their own footwork and expect to be spoon fed, I understand they need to learn on their own.

But without people helping each other and at least pointing them in the right direction. The Preludes and or the performance aftermarket will slowly die out.

Re: There are turbo 5th Gens

Welcome to Prelude Zone sir!!!

Glad to have ya.

Generally speaking this forum is pretty laid back. And folks tend to look out for each other..as in very little quarreling.
I mistook your humble approach as something different. My bad.

Next time tell us it's your car in the pix lol

Re: There are turbo 5th Gens

Yeah, sorry mykizm but my post wasn't intended to be hostile towards yourself either. I have the utmost respect for anyone who has the expertise to put together such a beauty. There is so much knowledge and experience on this site already and it gets a little frustrating when the noobs come on and post without taking a 5 min tour of the site, to which my post was more pointed at them too not yourself. My last comment could (upon re-reading) perhaps have been taken the wrong way. I understand that in previous years there was somewhat of a rivalry between all the various Prelude communities (PZ, PP, HT etc.) but haven't seen too much of it lately. I was genuinely asking if the original post was intended to troll us, turns out it wasn't.

Now that's all out of the way, it would be great to see more of you and the car around.

I haven't seen a lot of super charged preludes in a long time. Although a lot of had to do with marketing of Jackson Racing, and the limited availability of modern technology (lack of custom fabricated manifolds) in the late 90's.

So I'm sure there a lot of old JRSC kits out there waiting for someone unknowing wanting to add something they think will make them go faster.

There aren't that many really, very few JRSC owners are active on Prelude forums. Most people install them, ruin them due to lack of maintenance/lost parts, sell and someone has to piece it together and get it fixed. It's just as expensive to do a proper/safe S/C build with less power than it is a turbo build. Mine exchanged hands at least 5 times before I purchased it, and it was only used by one of the owners (to my knowledge).

Throughout the facebook prelude communities, i've seen maybe 5 owners pop up. On the forum prelude communities, maybe 10.
