1997 Honda Prelude Base Help!!!

So I am new here and have been expierencing problems left and right with my Prelude.

I am in the process of replacing my Rack and Pinion cause the bellows are shot and the joints are going bad from what the mechanic told me.

Also I am replacing my top and bottom radiator hoses cause they are as old as the car and haven't been done.

So to my new current other problem that arose on Monday, my check engine light came on and I took it to get the code read and it said that Cylinder 1 was misfiring. I haven't checked the spark plugs or any of the wire yet. I moved away from my tools so I can't do it myself.

So then today Wednesday on my way to work it started okay and I headed out and when i was going to get on the freeway my speedometer gauage and rpm gauage started jumping up and down from working to not work. After that started they both cut out the rest of the way to work. Then, my ABS light came on. After that, my e brake light started flickering on and off for a few. But then the worst part I took off from a stop light and my engine reveved really high before shifting out of 1st gear, and shift weird the rest of the way to work.

I was also told that my battery is starting to go at my last oil change not long ago and am wondering if that has to do with any of the recent problems I expierenced this morning on my way to work.

At this point I don't know what to do. It just keeps coming up with problems that I can't afford and/or know what to do with. I would great appricate any help that you guys and give me on what to do. Thank you.

Re: 1997 Honda Prelude Base Help!!!

Welcome to the world of the love-hate, heartbreaking relationship of owning an older sports car that wasn't properly maintained....
And welcome to prelude zone.

No shame in being new at this. Everybody here started out at some point.

Start with...
All Gen. Prelude Service Manuals
^^ download a service manual.
Chapter 11 has a section that'll show what can cause that common cylinder 1 misfire code.

The hoses aint so hard. But new ones at an auto store, about $20 and some new clamps (4). If need be cut off your old hoses. You'll need channel lock pliers to grab the old hoses and pinch off your old oem clamps. Be sure to put plenty of spit in your new hoses to get them to slide onto the fittings all the way.
Of course ya gotta drain the radiator. Get a gallon of coolant full strength and have an empty gallon jug to make ya 2 gallons of 50/50 coolant.
And learn how to bleed the air.

Now as far as your gauges, that could be the speed sensor beginning to go. Again, use the manual to diagnose that.

And batteries don't last that long these days. Lots of stresses on them in these modern cars cause them to go bad along with crappy stuff they make them out of. Clean your connections good with a battery brush.
