Transmission Swap

Hello everybody i bought a 98 sh prelude and am dropping a jdm short ratio transmssion into it, because my tranny and atts are giving me issues atts does not work and new tranny has it.
700 shipped free 33k miles

While im in there i plan on doing rear main seal, car has 152k what other maintence items do you guys suggest?

Not sure how much more work it would be but i was thinking headgasket, maybe some bearings?

Re: New transmission

Timing belt!!!! Water pump, oil pump, hydraulic timing belt tensioners start to get weak at high mileage so either replace it or get a manual tensioner. Check your compression and see if you have any loss of antifreeze before thinking about the head gasket. If the passenger side of the head and on the bell housing is oily/greasy under the distributor then do your distributor o-ring and cam seal plug.

Re: New transmission

Great advice thanks! apparently the t belt and water pump were done but the owner did not specify when...said previous owner did it.

I replaced the o-ring distributor and vtec gasket no more leaks on that side, no loss of coolant so far at least in the reservoir.
Just to be sure there's no other gaskets or bearings that would be close to the job?

Re: New transmission

Not sure, maybe oil pan. But while the motor is out look for things in the engine bay that need replaced, power steering lines, brake lines, vacuum hoses, ect.. you know things that are easier to get at while the motor is out
