Icon5 Should i buy one?...

Hello everyone i am in need of some help..
I own a 2011 Chrysler 200 with 30k miles and am about to sell it to purchase a 2000 honda prelude SH with only 12k miles on it! iv known the seller for many years as he is my neighbor and he keeps it well maintained and drives it once a month to keep things working. He is also including a never opened Jackson racing super charger for the 97-01 Preludes and Headers. Along with the car it even still has a warranty until next November! all original paint. not a single scratch or ding in the body. and an amazing vehicle history report. Question is. my 2011 is worth $12,000 and the He is asking $10,000 for the prelude. so im asking you all. Experts on the car.. Should i do it?
The car is 100% stock at the moment. it literally looks like it was made yesterday.

If there were any prelude worth selling your 2011 chrysler 200 for, that is probably it. I cant think of any "dont do it because.." scenario. Thats pretty unheard of low mileage. Jackson supercharger kit is a plus, thats $3000 itself.

Re: Should i buy one?...

I say 10k is reasonable considering that it is not being manufactured anymore and it is very hard to find a 5th gen in that low of a mileage. But again it never hurts to negotiate, i would try for 9k.

Re: Should i buy one?...

I would buy it in a heartbeat.

That being said, just don't forget that engine seals and rubber parts like belts (timing!!) and hoses degrade over time from exposure to oxygen. Any scheduled maintenance that is required by calendar should be done, which means full t-belt job and possibly more.

Tires also have a calender life...you can google how to read the manufacture date on them. Look for minute cracking in the sidewalls.

Re: Should i buy one?...

Uh.... As cool as the car is, there are cooler cars used now that are a better bang for your buck. And... When that supercharger goes, jackson or eaton or someone gonna need to rebuild it... If. No S/C. Car no go.

One last thing to consider; call your insurance agency and see if they would total the prelude on a fender bender. It doesnt take much for them to do. Find out from them first.

Re: Should i buy one?...

^^ good advice Chris.

Edit:
Just got to thinking. That supercharger can be one tricky sumbeech to keep. Lot's of research should take place to know how to properly vent the motor as well as all that excess heat being generated by all those extra molecules of horsepower packed in the chambers vs your standard induction.

A coworker told me just yesterday his Ford Lightning truck with it's alluminum heads blew spark plugs out of their holes (taking threads with 'em) three different times, requiring three new cylinder heads.
A friend told me he liked to have blown his piston rings in his prelude and now has compression loss across the board....
