Blown head gasket
Took it to the shop and they told me I had a blown head gasket and wanted 1700 so I decided to do it myself! I'm almost half way done with it! Why was the oil I took out gold? It looked like it had flakes in it..

Re: Blown head gasket
crap they wanted a lot. because coolant was mixing with the oil. flakes is not good at all, your rings could have went.

Re: Blown head gasket
If the flakes are silver and 'moosh' when rubbed between your fingers it could be a po had used stop leak, silver solder or some other miracle product to keep it from leaking.
If your oil looks gold that could be that 'chocolate' look that occurs when coolant and oil mix. If golden like honey, that's normal.
