Vibration on aceleration

I am new to the forums but been browsing through for a while so this is my first time posting up. I have been searching this problem for weeks on the forum and have tried everything that i found to be a fix for it.

I have been having a vibration problem in my 5th gen now for a while. Doesnt happen in first gear. Problem lies in 2nd gear and 3rd gear. Also happens in 4th and 5th at lower rpms. Seems like it happens between 2000 to 4500 rpms and on acceleration only. Crusing speeds and in neutral its fine. It kinda feels like a shimmy, without any feedback in the steering wheel. Just shakes the body i.e door panels and dash are rattling.

I have a 97 prelude base model with jdm h22 swap with lsd tranny.

So far i have replaced:

inner and outer tie rods
intermediate shaft bearing
both axles
4 wheel alignment
Innovative 75a motor mounts
New wheels with new tires balanced
Wheels bearings are good no noises at crusing speeds
ball joints are good as the wheels have no play at all.
innovative traction bar

I am at a loss of what it could be. Anyone have any problems with a wheel bearing being bad without any significate play in the wheel? like i have said i been searching this problem for weeks in the forum and have tried every fix that i found.

Any help would be appreciated, i am sure some else had gone through this same procedure and found a fix for it.

thanks

Re: Vibration on aceleration

transmission only has about 100k on it. i may consider checking it. with the car jacked up, and front tires off the ground , revving the motor from 2000 to 3000 rpm, there isnt any noticeable wobbleing in the way the axles are rotating. this is driving me nuts.

Re: Vibration on aceleration

Sounds exactly like my previous symptoms. Sometimes it felt like the front wheels were walking, sometimes the doors and dash shook like hell and sometimes the ass would shimmy and jiggle left to right (violently)... I did not have LSD. (but I will read the link Mike, I do plan to get LSD)
First gear has the most torque, it should happen in first if it was LSD. Mine did this before on acceleration. Sometimes yes and sometimes it didnt. All depends in which manner I got oin the gas pedal. Also if the wheel was slightly turned when I would take off from a corner, it happened worse. Someone told me to check my frame.

Here is a link to something I posted before. http://www.preludezone.com/4th-gen-honda-prelude/51455-tear-down-diagnosis-h23a1-failure-big-pic-warning.html#post711265 I havent driven my lude since I posted that, but since then I have a new CROSSBEAM. That is the part ALL your suspension ties into. Go over it really well and jiggle things around with YOUR hands, dont trust some mechanic that has 10 other cars to get finished and out of the garage quickly. A pry bar would help too. Anything that has too much movement can cause a wiggle. Mine was around a CV joint location, so much forces get translated to the nearby parts. Mike is onto something with the LSD thing. But why would it not happen in 1st gear perplexes me.

Check rear trailing arms too. Back wheels dictate what front will do. upper control arms. You have much checking to do...

Re: Vibration on aceleration

So i contacted synchro tech about getting a possible rebuild on my transmission, and just ran them through the my problem. the reply i got back was that if the lsd inside my tranny was bad, it would make some grinding noises or other stuff.

I also contact insane shafts about my problem, and he said that it was a possibility that my new auto parts store axles could be the problem. I am going to purchase a set of his 500hp axles and hopefully this will solve the problem.

Ill keep people updated as soon i replace them, so this can help other people out with this problem.

Re: Vibration on aceleration

You could even do it with a simple jack, once the wheels are out u can see everything down there... Anyhoo. Sounds like u making progress. Hopefully it is the shaft and not the crossbeam, it could be something silly like a radius arm.. I
One thing at a time tho, good job and good choice to take drive shaft first. I had doubt's about pesky LSD... At least that works properly though. Transmission stuff is expensive, now u can splurge on suspension!

Re: Vibration on aceleration

Uh, could it be your motor mounts perhaps? Did it begin when you did those Innovatives?

Re: Vibration on aceleration

Hey, projectxaccord. I've also noticed the same issue with my bb1. I installed two aftermarket cv axles and I think it may have a lot to do with it. Its not like I have a crazy vibration. But, from time to time I may get a shimmy from the front end. One of my coworkers that has worked on Hondas for a long time now warned me of using non oem cv axles. He said that they tend to not be balanced as well. He may be correct. But, in my case; a little bit of shimmy once in a while wont drive me crazy. But, from what your talking about, you do have a more severe case.
