Rebuilt power steering pump issues...

I rebuilt my power steering pump today. When I was done I started it up and the fluid did not drop. Also the car feels like the ps belt is off. I was very careful when reinstalling it all that everything was out back together right. Any ideas on whats the issue or do i need to remove it again and go back through it to be sure?

Re: Rebuilt power steering pump issues...

Now the high pressure line is leaking from the rubber hose where it sits in the bracket on the valve cover.

Re: Rebuilt power steering pump issues...

Ok I made some huge progress today. I took the pump back off. I had another pump that i originally tried to rebuild but I think the flow valve was faulty. I took the old pump, rebuilt it and now I have power steering again.

Here is my new question. I have seen the hose online listed as a Automatic or a Standard version. Now my car is a Auto but Im about to do the 5speed swap(I have 90% of the parts now). Is there a difference or is it the same + some clearance issues the auto needs that the manual doesn't. My concern is if I buy the auto one, when I swap to my 5speed I will need the MT hose.

Thoughts?

edit to add: The parts for the two, main difference i see is that the AT hose is 1" longer.

That's weird, I didn't even know the PS hose was different between mt/at. I don't see how having a auto or manual will affect that hose in any way considering it goes from the rack to the pump.

Re: Rebuilt power steering pump issues...

After fighting with it I got the hose off. I brought it to a local shop that rebuilds them. $50 later the leak is fixed and the issues are solved.

As for the difference, the oem part numbers for both are the same. So I have no idea why they would sell two like that at the parts stores.
