Tranny swap.. Help

Okay. So I want a new tranny in my prelude.. Problem is. I have no idea what to look for or even where to begin looking. It's a 2001 se vtec automatic. But I have no idea what kind of transmission I have, or if it even matters when I'm switching. I know there's lots on it here and I've been looking. But I seriously have no clue what the heck there talking about when there naming the transmission.h22a and crap like that. I know I sound like a moron but I've seriously been throwing the idea of doing the swap or just gonna sell the car for months.I love my car. But my tranny is on the way out so I think a swap is my best bet. But I have no idea what to do from here.

Re: Tranny swap.. Help

Any of the 4th or 5th generation manual transmissions will fit your car (possibly barring SH transmissions, due to the ATTS, I'm not sure on that). The only real difference is the gear ratios. A simple Google search or a look at the Wikipedia page will give you all the information you need. Since you're swapping from automatic to manual, you'll need a shifter, shifter plate, shift linkages, pedals, master cylinder, slave cylinder, etc. etc. There are countless guides out there for this process, with detailed, step-by-step instructions, as well as complete parts lists. Google is your friend.

Re: Tranny swap.. Help

Aren't the intermediate shafts on SHs different or something? Like I said, I'm not an expert on the ATTS.

Re: Tranny swap.. Help

The ATTS and standard 5 speed transmissions have different length intermediate shafts.
