Icon5 Replacing all speakers, need help with AFBS.

Hello all, this is my first real post on Prelude Zone. I just bought my first car 2 weeks ago, a 2000 Crystal Blue Metallic 5-Speed Prelude. I LOVE IT! Now, I am an audiophile as well so I had I want to replace the stock system, it sounds good, but it could definitely sound better.

That being said, I have bought the following:
A pair of Infinity Kappa 693.11i 6x9"s for the rear

A pair of Infinity Kappa 60.11CS 6-3/4"s for the front.

No sub

The car is pretty compact and the stock system provides enough bass for a pleasurable listening experience. Anyhow, I realized as I removed the rear speakers there were special adapters or something that hooked up to the speakers. Upon further research I realized this was for the AFBS (Still not too sure on what it is).

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I have to do? I'd prefer not to buy an Amp and have to go through the hassle of wiring up the whole car, I'll leave that as my last resort. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to read this, I appreciate your time.

Just splice and connect your speakers to those wire off the connector.

Re: Replacing all speakers, need help with AFBS.

AFBS has a 75 watt mono amp that powers the rear speakers and has a microphone that listens out for road noise, distortion etc. The factory speakers are rated at 2 ohms which allows that little amp to run nice n cool yet provide a bit of thump as you've noticed. The front speakers are slim line and are powered by the head unit. That's where the improvement can take place with the best results imo.

Don't know about the speakers you speak of. If they are rated for 8 ohms they will likely kill your rear amp quickly if you like it loud and thumpy.
Too much resistance.
Try swapping out your front speakers before messing with the rear ones and see if that satisfies the audiophile in you.

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Re: Replacing all speakers, need help with AFBS.

Leave the rear deck alone, and focus on the front. That way you get the benefit of that noise balancing thingy the car comes with. Or start looking for some decent mids.

Radio shack has amps the size of hamburger that can live under the dash if it was needed for the front speakers. Them guys you can toy with.
