The H23A Vtec JDM swap is a common one that has a better torque curve and is fairly inexpensive

Ah, by the time you're done, an H22 will be roughly the same cost and will plant right in. H23 has a few changes to make.

Why not just buy a new cylinder head and pay a shop to install it?

Re: motor gone what swap fit h22 tranny

the h23a is pretty much just a drop in motor.... other than if your car is obd1, you will need to convert the engine to obd1, or convert the car to obd2....

the h23a has gone down alot in price though.... last i checked years ago it was $3000, now $1100..... without the lsd trans. but who needs an lsd trans for $850 when it only really matters on the track, or strip

The only part you would have to change to make things more simpler is the intake manifold and everything on it.
