Bad Headlight Wiring

Hi guys. So I bought a 5th gen prelude back in March. The owner had told me (before I bought it) that he had installed HID headlights, but that he didn't know 100% what he was doing. Somehow, the headlights weren't working when he first installed them so he messed around with the wires & got shocked. He ended up putting what looks like duct tape around the driver's side headlight & electrical tape on passenger side headlight wiring as a quick fix I guess.

I didn't ask him to explain in detail because I was excited to buy the prelude & besides, he told me all I had to do to get the driver's side light to work was flick the headlights off & on until the 1 that doesn't work turns on.

Well, after DD it, I realized that the bad wiring might be the cause of a power loss when operating things like windows, a/c & sunroof.

All I need help with is identifying the wires that go from the bulb to the wire that goes to the ballast. Did research on google, but cannot find what the parts are called.

I know bad headlight wiring is most likely not the real cause of the power loss (I do kinda need a new timing belt), but I feel like if I leave the dameged wires, another problem could arise.

PS: Sorry for the long post, but I'm at work & cannot break it down better since I'm a server & my boss is on my ass about using my phone haha.

Re: Bad Headlight Wiring

First picture is the driver's side with what looks like duct tape. What are those cylinder looking things called that join the wires?

2nd picture is of the passengers side. That looks like electrical tape, but I don't know what it's wrapped around.
