Re: Purchasing a 5th gen help please!

If you have money to fix it then yes...

People usually just lower their car with lowering springs and them combined to stock shocks - it will get them blown + it causes more stress to ball joints

With that price and those miles (is maintenance up to date?) you could expect there to be things that needs work

Re: Purchasing a 5th gen help please!

Try to figure it out whats wrong with it and ask that the seller show you documents about the maintenance - when and what has been done

Re: Purchasing a 5th gen help please!

Unless you have deep pockets or a lot of knowledge and tools. Prelude might not be the best choice. For a good daily I would recommend you buy and automatic Accord maybe an Integra. Than again if your uncle is a mechanic anything is possible!

Oh yeah! One more thing If you do pick Prelude make sure it's stick shift and as close to stock as possible.

You'd have to check with the auto zone to see if they'll do it. Most do read codes for ya. Some don't.

My first question is always "why you selling it?". You can learn a lot about the seller with that question.

Depends on your daily driving habits, which is a good car. City driving like downtown Chicago with hill galore, stick is a nightmare. New clutch often.
Long highway commutes, definitely avoid an auto 5th g.

BTW, there's no link attached.

i dont see how any integra would be more reliable than a prelude, their b-series engines arent as reliable as a ludes H series, and the accords the same platform so the engines are the same, if anything the lude has a better suspension system with the all round double wishbones. though i must agree auto 5th gens have the craptonic auto box that's shocking my current SiR has the flashing D4 light problem, i swapped my DA9 integra with very similar milage as a manual, my point is its all for the vtec, however if the teg was vtec it may not have happened but ive owned enough preludes as both commuting and day to day driving cars as well as skid hacks, they'll take a thrash like a pornstar when you want em to be thrashed (skidding around a 3G 4WS on the beach) but dont expect to get away with doing it every day. just realise itll cost you more to drive like a nutjob than you drive like a normal human being

i just think the problem is anyone that owns these cars cant help but drive these cars like their hot... its called the prelude because it was a test car for honda to try out their new gadgetry.

its a wicked car man thats just my opinion, post some pics your link doesnt work!

I just see 10x more teggys and accords per day than I do preludes. Is that a coincidence? I think not...

Well now, that's a logical fallacy if I've ever heard one. Preludes were in production from 1978 to 2001. Integras were in production from 1985 to 2006. Just based on the fact that it was produced for 5 years past the Prelude would allow for more of them to be on the road. And Accords are still being produced. So of course there will be more Accords on the road than Preludes. There are many reasons that you'd see more Accords and Integras on the road than "they are better daily drivers than 'ludes". Correlation does not equal causation.
