tail light/dash light wiring issue

Alright so thiss cars electrical has been possessed since I've owned it.

The tail lights/dash lights worked fine when I got it then they suddenly stopped

So I wired the tail lights to my radio as a temporary fix.

I replaced my front drivers quarter panel and when I turned the lights on the dash lights came on so I rewired the tail lights to the factory wiring.

Last night on the way to work(2 weeks later) it went out again.

I grounded the tail lights to the trunk and ran a wire up to my radio(now the odd part). I touched it to the always hot on the radio harness and the dash lights came on and the door started dinging(like it does with lights on and door open)

I don't understand how that all came on when the tail lights weren't even on that circuit anymore since I wired them differently.

Where do I need to start looking to fix this?(I'm assuming is a wiring issue)

Edit:dash lights constant flicker when driving when tail lights are wired to a constant

Re: tail light/dash light wiring issue

If you don't have one, go to the diy section and download a pdf service manual. Chapter 23 should help some.

If you can find a used electrical troubleshoot manual, buy it. If not go to helms.com and buy a new one.

Either way you go, try to go back to oem wiring. And ensure your ground is to bare metal. Best to ground to a screw that goes through metal that if you removed it you'd see light through the hole.
These cars are finicky regarding grounds.

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.
