chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

I have a honda prelude 97 automatic and i have a chipped p28 ecu, but the chipped ecu is not work in my prelude 97 automatic. The car start fine but when i put the car in drive the car move to slowly barely move wit the chipped ecu. I see ton chipped ecu in manual transmission but i dont see anibody with chipped ecu in automatic transmission especialy prelude 5 gen.

my question is if there is any way to put chipped ecu to prelude 5 gen automatic?

sorry for the mistakes in the writing, my native language is Spanish I am from Puerto Rico

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

as long as the ecu is set up for an auto there should be no problem . the bad part is that the difference from an auto ecu an manual ecu is actually a resistor in a diff position on the board . ill see if i can find the schematics and see what position the resistor should be in that way you can check and make sure the ecu is in fact set up for an auto car .

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

heres a link . rp17 and rp18 should have a resistor if its an auto ecu . if not you can convert the ecu to an auto by installing 2 resistors .

so you would do the reverse of what this thread says . its actually telling you how to convert an auto to manual .

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

to be honest i didnt even think about that . there is a separate ecu to control the auto trans though the ecu just needs to know its mated to an auto trans so it should be fine the big diff is how the car idles and drives from a stop . i was given an ecu with a motor i bought once and was told it was a manual trans and it was an auto . i spent 2 weeks trying to figure out why it wouldnt idle right and would bog down when i stomped it for a second or two before it would get going . after moving the resistor it ran like a champ .

that would indicate that it is in fact for an auto ecu .. what exactly is the car doing ? if you give it gas it just wont go at all ? or its just slow getting moving . i know that the auto trans in the 5th is not known for being the most reliable .

I was going to say that about the trans ecu but you beat me to it. Is this chipped ecu something that you just picked up and installed or was it in the car when you got it? I was just wondering if it's something totally unrelated to the chipped ecu and maybe something more to do with the trans ecu

ok i try again and the shiftronic not work, an the only car move normal is in drive 1 and the other drive 2, drive 3 and 4 move very slow like you have a standard car and you tried to move in the 4 speed in the start

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

if that chipped ecu is the only thing that you have changed and now it's doing this then yeah it seems like something is not matching up. was everything fine before with the original ecu?

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

i have the original ecu. when i put the original ecu mi car runs fine. The only problem with the original I noticed when the car is cold Within 1-2 minutes after start up on a cold engine, the idle will slowly drop to a point nearly 0 and the car start shaking It will run like this for about 20-30 seconds and then the rpms come back up and it runs like nothing ever happened. it always happend in the cold start, the funny of this is the car doesnt do this with the chipped ecu. The other thing is when the car is warm i put car in neutral the idle goes up to 1600.

Re: chipped ECU P28 automatic prelude 1997?

well it sounds like until the issue with the transmission is resolved, the original ecu is going to be the better of the two even with the bogging symptom. Obviously the trans and chipped ecu are disagreeing on something. A chipped ecu in an automatic is not something that I have personally had experience with so hopefully someone will jump in here and be able to help out a little bit. Good luck man, and welcome to PZ by the way

i think i gonna resolved this, i enter www.rywire.com and i see the regular harness i have obd1 to obd2 conversion but in the same web i see one special harness say..........

Automatic obd2a to obd1 Converts any automatic: 1996-1999 Acura Integra, 1996-1998 Honda Civic, 1996-2001 Honda Prelude, 1996-1997 Honda Accord ...To run any OBD1 Automatic ECU. PRICE: $250.00

and that harness looks diferent than my, maybe i using the wrong harneess in my car.
