Voltage Regulator FAILED?!

Hello Gents,

My car has been having issues starting in the morning. It takes a bit of time to start the car. When I turn the key it takes 3 secs for the car to actually start, I don't have this problem when the car is warm.

I had a electrical test and they said the voltage regulator FAILED. I just replaced an alternator (brand new) a year ago...

What are other reasons?! I am scared my car will not start one day.

Re: Voltage Regulator FAILED?!

where did you get the replacement alt from a year ago ? autozone , pep boys or the dealer ? you would be surprised how man parts from those ****ty parts stores fail a lot faster than oem stuff . if i dont go with the dealer for parts i get a lot from napa . the quality of there parts are far superior to other parts stores . a lot of times you get what you pay for .

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check the age/condition of your battery too. Also make sure that you don't have anything still pulling a load on your battery while the engine isn't running. Sometimes aftermarket electronic components (cd players etc..) aren't installed correctly and can drain your battery constantly. Good luck
