Re: hmm

There should be 2 little clips that hold the accelerator cable in place. Is there anything holding this in place now?

Haha, just the way nature intended. I keep forgetting to swap sides for you guys

Is it possible the motor in question came from a RHD lude? It looks like there has been something bolted up there at some point.

twokexlv6coupe is right. its for right hand drive cars. only reason i would say looks like that is because the peeling. ususally starts there first anyway. nothing USDM mounts there.

Re: hmm

Yeah my mechanic just dropped in for a sec and said nothing goes there... he mumbled something about looking at the head gasket though, I've put over 500miles on, the heat gauge stays steady under half and it hasn't lost a drop of oil... what would I be looking for if I suspected a head gasket problem? (sorry wasn't sure where to post that question)... thnx

Re: hmm

do a compression test, that will tell you how healthy your motor is.
and that has absolutely nothing to do with those bolt holes, which as before stated, are for the RHD throttle cable

I found out the car was bought brand new at a Calgary Alberta dealership... it was ordered from the dealership as delivered, it has heated cloth front seats and that lot was delivered with spoilers added from the factory as a promotion... the dealer also put a front shock tower brace on at the dealership as a sale/promo 'clearout' event in the spring of '99. Also the carfax shows the car was written off at 5,210 kms in a front end accident... the insurance company decided to fix the car anyway, and in Alberta that means the car carries a "rebuilt" status and had to be be government inspected to be registered in the province. I'm the third owner, the first owner was the son of the second owner, the lady I bought it off of. Just a curious note =)
