Mustang guy gone prelude?

Stumbled upon this gem looking for a fun 5 speed daily driver for under $3000. 1998 Type SH 156k for $2500. Always been a muscle car guy but i've gotta say this car feels like its on rails and is a lot of fun! Glad to be a part of the club! Can't wait to get to work!

nothing negative: just a fact - preludes aint that fast and if op is a guy who likes speed (like I assume when he already mentioned muscle cars) - you cannot really build sh's

Exactly. Not everyone wants to build a monster Prelude. I only did minor modifications to my SH and was very happy with it's reliability and performance.

haha! Haters are always going to hate. I don't want to go too crazy with it. First things on the list are Magnaflow exhaust , blue or white LED's for the dome light (bought both to try), a Pioneer FH-x700 deck w/ some infinity front component speakers and learning how to repaint a spoiler and bumper with a spray canů and maybe a euro r intake down the road "if i get bored"

its just that then you want a tune which you cannot get since you have sh - you cannot change your ecu if you want to keep your atts

Not true. I know a couple tuners in TX that deal extensively with Hondas and have tuned a few Sh models after mild builds. So it can be done, just not as easily as a base model. Where there's a will...and money, there's a way.

Ok mr t... If an sh can't be tweaked, explain why a type s has about 30!!! more hp than a usdm...
Or why the atts stays active up to 250!! hp.

Not everybody wants their car to be like you want yours to be when you grow up.

sh ecu cant be modified or changed, type s has type s ecu - its already modified in factory to match S engine upgrades

it doesnt matter: when you try to tune SH - with hondas the easiest way is that you change the factory ecu to chipped one or get ecu with hondata/neptune etc that you can start to change maps - atts is attached to sh's stock ecu (cars own ecu controls atts) and if you change some other ecu there - atts stops working

so you have to get some piggypack there which runs along with the factory ecu - and what Ive read people say that doesnt work that well...

its not about how much atts can handle its matter of does atts stay on or not

thats the main reason I dont like SH's - with base everything is more simple - not that much electrical madness - if you want differential LSD transmissions work pretty well

Nice find, man it's clean! That shift knob looks a little weird and high though. My first interior mod was a short shifter which stopped me bashing my knuckles on the radio during speedy miss-shifts from 2-3. I'm also kinda dumb though, so you might not have that problem.

Re: Mustang guy gone prelude?

SH is a fine car as is.

If you like handling on a budget, they were tough to beat at any price when new and king of the heap under $30k all 5 years they were made.
Search the net for the car & driver article. It tells the story.
Enjoy your poor man's vette... The Honda Prelude type SH
