New car stuck injectors

Hey everyone I just picked up a "new" 98 SH from a mechanic shop. Apparently one of my injectors is stuck open. Car is still running fine but you can smell the gas as soon as you turn the key on. My question is should I just replace the one injector and put new o rings on the others $350 or break down and replace them all for $788, or buy my own set of injectors and have the local shop install them. Links are appreciated!

Re: New car stuck injectors

as a mechanic of a few years it is my personal opinion that if 1 injector was stuck that there was probable debris in the fuel rail at some point and more than likely even if there not stuck the other injectors are probably not in great working order either . if it were my car or a client of mine i would do all 4 of them . as far as 788 thats about right as far as cost on a shop doing it . the job itself of actually swapping the injectors is very simple . a few clips , a few bolts , remove the old ones , lube the o rings and re install . on a 1 to 10 scale its a 2 at worst . might wanna buy them yourself and swap them out on your own . its really very simple and you get the satisfaction of fixing it yourself .

Re: New car stuck injectors

If you decide the DIY route, 4 RDX injectors and done . Just means less upgrading later.

Re: New car stuck injectors

Update. Car was all the way on E with the gas light on when I bought it. Filled it up with Chevron 93. Just hit a little less than a half tank and the check engine light went off and stayed off through the night (6 hours of starting, driving, parking, etc.) Planning on using an injector cleaner at the next fill up. I'm thinking/hoping the previous owner just ran 87 and the Chevron 93 did the trick. Hopefully it stays clean and this thread helps someone!

Re: New car stuck injectors

Prelude.... Premium everything, like that blind date you swore you'd never go on again...

Glad that was the fix , although a new set of injectors for when you decide to tune will pay for themselves down the road.
