I keep seeing youtube reviews saying the auto is bad, and hearing horrow stories... Anyhow I kinda want to keep my auto tranny ATM... I'm lazy and I drink coffee and smoke... I DO from time to time like to use the auto-manual gear switching thing... When it's in D3 or D4 and I nail the gas, it still shifts into the next gear at only around 5500rpm, it's fun to whine it up to 7k... is this a good idea on a car that has 220,000km's on it? Thoughts? How or where does the auto keep failing? Thnx

I'm drinking coffee and smoking while I type this. But that still leaves me enough energy to find the search feature.
I guess you eat salty french fries too?

Seriously, do some internet searching as to why Honda auto trannies fail. You'll see that under certain conditions they'll last. Under other conditions why they fail. Search accord tranny failure for the most info.

I'd post some links but drinking coffee while smoking and typing this has me tired.

Meh. It's working now anyhow and has fresh Honda ATF and Lucas conditioner... might look on eBay for a tranny cooler... I read the signs of failure so I'll keep an ear/eye peeled for them... Is it harder on it to downshift, like you would a manual, using the engine compression to slow down?
