Re: knock sensor problems after pulling engine

The knock sensor is very brittle after years of heating up on the back of the motor.

So yes, pretty much any work done around the intake manifold/head/oil filter area can cause the sensor to fail since it literally falls off when touched.

Just order a new one from Honda (no aftermarket cheap one, go with Honda) and replace it prior to reinstalling the engine.

Re: knock sensor problems after pulling engine

^^ this.
And a lot of times they get broken re-installing the motor.

The Honda one is at least twice as expensive as the part store kind. And those ebay for $35?
But they reportedly don't last. E-bay type supposedly... 90 days.
The part store type... a year or two.
Honda type... until you break it.
