Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

Hi, I want to change my stock muffler and get a better one. I had a vibrant stealth black on my civic but now i have a prelude and I want another vibrant. My question is, is the tips on the one i picked out too big? Its says 3.5 dual outlet and 2.5 inlet.

Vibrant Performance ::.

you can get narrowing-pipe parts (2,5" to 2"), but IMO op would be much happier with new full exhaust

I would agree. or find a kit that has the pipe already bent and shaped into place. i opted for custom exhaust and love it. just need a welder

Re: Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

Well dont have enough money for a full system. Or I would get one. Im in the process of rebuilding my H22A4, but the muffler is coming later. But I just want to get options now just in case i decide to do the exhaust. Can someone help find an exhaust system thats not very expensive and that works for this Muffler?

If all you want is a muffler, look into a twin loop. Nice and deep for a 4banger. Loved mine.

I got mine off ebay From seller RomkSpeed for $69. It's stainless with good construction. I had it on my '01 SH for 2 years before I sold it and know the guy that bought it. It's still on there and has performed flawlessly. Still looks and sounds excellent.

Re: Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

I'm just relating my experience. Which is fact. Opinions vary with experiences, so my opinion of my experience with said twin loop was extremely positive. OP wanted options so I provided one. A recommendation besides "get a full exhaust", which not everyone can afford. \So quit shooting everyone else down and come up with an alternative or gtfo. /rant

Re: Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

Unless you NEED to replace the muffler due to noise pollution violations or Emissions tests,
Leave it alone until you can afford another exhaust system. And you need to keep your resonator for the deep tone. Take it out, rasp city

exept you dont have the car anymore so you dont really know how lasting thing that is... IMO its wasting money if you buy cheap muffler for couple of years and after that it starts to rust or/and the sound silencing materials go bad from the muffler and it starts to sounds like crap

thats not shooting down ideas - thats prepping him to one possible outcome: ebay sht is most of the times just ebay sht

Your spelling and grammar are just as bad as your reading and comprehension. Read what he said again:

He still knows the guy and can attest the muffler looks and sounds excellent. FACT

I agree some eBay parts are garbage, but NOT everything. I also know a guy with a pretty sweet prelude and bought that OBX twinloop off eBay. His sounds and performs great (albeit not as good as my genuine Mugen twinloop ). Keep in mind we also both have a full custom exhaust so just a muffler alone may not give you the sound, and more importantly, the performance you're looking for.

Like others have said, if you don't need to replace the muffler right now, just wait and save up until you can afford a full exhaust, then switch things up.

knowing just that "its there" doesnt necessarily mean that he TRULY knows how its acting when hes not using the car everyday by himself

and who says his was obx's? there are those 40-60$ twinloops as well...when obx is over 100 how do you think that somebody can sell ones with half of that money? yes - the materials arent that good!

I just never ever trust in cheap products and I cannot give advices to people either to use them

That way you get some benefit from your purchase... free-er flowing exhaust.

Re: Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

Depends on your budget, current needs, and your overall plan to keep the car.
You could invest in a total replacement with true headers to the tips, or the cheap way with beer, hard boiled eggs and a fartcan.

Visit some exhaust shops and educate yourself on what's available online. Whatever you decide buy quality and do it right the first time.

Good luck!

Hahaha...thank you for proving my point. Here let me help you out with that:

Don't whine at me if you're not having a great day

(sigh) So here's what I said:
I also know a guy with a pretty sweet prelude and bought that OBX twinloop off eBay.

Yet somehow you still can't interpret this simple statement.

Me, I just did. From personal experience, my friend - FACT. Again, learn to read and comprehend.

When jimmyznutz says it, 'Still looks and sounds excellent', that means he SEES and HEARS it personally - FACT. He doesn't subconsciously assume that somewhere out there the car and muffler are doing fine.

Seriously TypeTonPhonics, looks like you're the one "not having that great day"

Yes getting full exhaust is good in the place of getting only muffler.

like I said: IF he hasnt seen/heard it for a while - like it could be that he saw/heard it over a year ago (for example) - then he only KNOWS that its (still) THERE - argument is unvalid

its not good to be so gullible (right word?) about what people tell you... usually when you start to ask more questions you find out that the first story wasnt really that straight after all

Im just VERY sceptical about cheap ebay knockoff mufflers...

Re: Looking for a Nice deep tone sounding muffler.

Let me clarify my statement about the twin loop I purchased. Purchased off ebay 5 years ago. This is right after the install.

It is stainless with excellent construction. I loved the sound and quality of the build of said muffler. It held up perfectly fine for me. As of last Wednesday it is still on the car and still in perfect shape and still sounds sweet.

This was taken last week with it still on the car.

This is all fact.
