nothing but the best for my baby
and if it says it right on the gauge cluster "premium fuel only" then its prolly pretty important

and if you do the math, its only like $2-3 more every fill-up.

Do you think it would be bad for the car if you mix it up... i have a friend with an accord coupe, and when he has money he fills it up premium, but when hes low on cash he gets regular???

The higher octane gases contain fuel additives that prevent knocking...sooo you can wait until your tank gets really low, fill up with 87, and see what happens! haha. Knocking isn't good, so if it knocks you need the fuel additives...otherwise you're golden. I have always gotten 91 or better, so I don't actually know if we need to or not. But yeah, if it says so on the cluster...

a lude is not an accord. premium only. it also says so on the dash, and on the fuel door.

Its really not...in the long run, running the right octane fuel is just one more thing to check off on the list of things to do.

My dad actually ran out of gas in our old CRX and had nothing but diesel...you shouldve seen that bad boy smoking. Haha. The car finally decided to give up when my dad fell through the floorboards and the odometer had just ticked off a little over 378K.

Back to topic, run the right freekin fuel, cheap ass. Hah

lmfao hahahahahahahahahha

honestly, do the math: lets say theres a 20 cent/gallon difference between regular and premium grade, and you usually run it pretty empty so you fill up with about 12-13 gallons. thats an extra $2.50 per fill-up, you cheap-ass
not only will your engine run better, it'll last longer.

If it says premium fuel only on the cluster and the fuel door it must be pretty important or it wouldn't be there.

Premium fuel all the way. I used 87 for a while but the engine doesnt run as good AND since the compression ratio is pretty high (10:1 if im not mistaken) the premium fuel will work alot better for ignition, especially if your like me and have to deal with winter and not enough money for a winter beater.

For example lets say gas is

$3.19 for (93) Ultra
$3.09 for (91) Super
$2.99 for (89) Mid
$2.89 for (87) Regular

And for examples sake lets say you're filling up your entire tank:

15.9 gal X 3.19 = $50.72
15.9 gal X 2.89 = $45.95

You're telling me you're too cheap to spend an extra $4.77?!?!?!? Thats almost an extra gallon and a half. Atleast cheap out on MID or super. seriously. I'm cheap too. But not that much of a fool to put reg.

Premium 93 only goes in mine. I'll walk before I put anything else...

Or hitch a ride.
Seriously, a Prelude isn't a Civic or Accord. It's higher maintenance. If you can't afford it, get something else. Neglegence will only cause you more problems and money down the road.

I used to live near a Sunoco that offered 94 octane, it was great. It seems like every state outside of Indiana, has their premium at 91, Indy is 93. The price is the same though, interesting.
