Icon10 SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

What's up guys?! Anyone here know of or tried/have SRS products ? I'm contemplating buying they're 4-2-1 header and cat back exhaust. I'll be sourcing a high flow cat elsewhere. I can get the header and cat back for about $450 shipped. The quality looks/sounds great.

Here are some links

Honda Prelude 97-01 NON SH catback exhaust system

HONDA PRELUDE NON SH 97-01 STAINLESS STEEL HEADER

I've looked around at other non prelude forums via google and found people love them. Just looking for some feedback from some one w a lude that can relate.

Thanks guys

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

You'll learn that companies who produce Honda parts are a dime-a-dozen. That header looks like it's pieced together exactly like the stock unit, which tells me that it will not perform any better that what you have already. If that's all you're looking for, then I'd say you've found it. Quality might be there with the steel and the welding, but in the end it's probably nothing but a copy of the most basic piece of your motor.

The good thing about owning a car that's been around for 1-2 decades is that you don't have to worry about being the one to pioneer new products. Everything that is good in quality has been thoroughly used and reviewed, as has everything that's not worth a damn. That being said, I would probably not search for Prelude-related answers on a non-Prelude forum.

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

I had their cat back over a year ago. It was decent it sounded good and deep below 3k rpms but after that it sounded way too raspy and was way too loud. Also the muffler itself stuck out a little too past the lip for my liking vs the way a Apexi N1 tucks behind the lip which looks better. I removed it to save my ear drums and from sounding like a Honda with a fart can. Save up and spend your money on a custom setup like Kteller piping with a Vibrant muffler of your choice.
Same thing with the header, spend that money on a Hytech rep or a vibrant header. That header is like your typical DC/Megan headers you see, look nice but offers no gain of HP/TQ.

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

Bummer. Sounds like middle of the pack quality. That's dissapointing. I'm looking for decent quality under $500 but it doesn't sound like that's going to happen. However for about $700 a Megan racing cat back and plm tri y header can be had. I may go that route. Or possibly the SRS exhaust with the plm header. For an extra $100 I may as well go Megan. Is Megan worth $350 shipped?

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

I would just stay away from pre made cat backs all together.

Kteller 2.5" piping- $215
Vibrant 2.5" Muffler- $115
Vibrant ultra quiet resonator $78
That's $408 and to get it all welded together you'll have to call around for pricing.
I believe KronnSH from PreludePower still sells the Hytech rep's for 320 shipped.

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

Found a local shop that's going to weld an obx DSM style muffler and install a test pipe w 2.5" from the cat back for $100. Can't beat that. Will use the savings tobuy a hytech replica header. Just one question. How much power am iI looking at with the stock intake with drop in k&n and the above setup? Thanks a million guys

Re: SRS Tuning Exhaust + Header

Any NA Honda with a test pipe, no resonator and a straight through muffler will sound like crap.

Thanks man, I was un aware it would with that setup.

Ive revised my thoughts. Im going to get 2.5'' piping welded from my cat back to some kind of muffler. Just not sure which yet. Thanks again!
