Just bought a 97

So I was looking for a decent Honda for fuel mileage only thing I was coming up with was fast and furious crap or cars with 300k.

until I found this 97 prelude type sh all stock has a few dings but in good shape 160k miles first time I seen it the abs and the atts light were lite up on the dash I told him they would have to be off for me to buy the car so yesterday it went in for service and he said they fixed the issue and the lights are now off.

Dumb me wasn't paying attention the lights are staying off full time now they won't come on when you turn the key. The car is mine I bought it today and realized the issue the next time I fired it up. Can I take it to any shop with a scan tool to see if its messed up or does it have to be a Honda dealer?

Re: Just bought a 97

replace the bulb in the cluster that they removed. use your scan tool to actually discover what codes the car is throwing.

Re: Just bought a 97

^^ scan tools for codes for your car are available at parts stores as little as $35 these days.

Welcome to prelude zone.

Scan it and come back here to tell us what you found.

Btw if the atts fix is expensive you can unplug it, remove the dash lamp and there'll be no ill effect on your car. You just won't have the atts anymore.

Re: Just bought a 97

Thank you for the help guys I had the car scanned at auto zone and no codes show up but he wasn't sure if it would pull codes from the abs side. I just tried the self diagnostic check by jumping the two pin wire by the obd2 and there's no lights flashing but the abs and atts still remained off. I haven't had much time thumbing through The forum yet due to work but is there a tutorial on how to remove the gauge cluster?

Re: Just bought a 97

just unscrew and pop off the plastic cover around the gauge cluster(there should be two philips head screws at the top) Then once the covers is off I believe there are four phillips head screws that hold in the cluster. Then disconnect two or three plugs i don't remember how many there are. And put new bulbs in. Very easy to do. Once new bulbs are in then you should see the ATTS light flash for different codes, I don't remember what needs to be done for the ABS, maybe a higher end scan tool then what Auto zone has.

EDIT: I also believe if the ABS light comes on ATTS deactivates and the ATTS dash light comes on also. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Just bought a 97

If he had the bulbs disabled to cover up the problem that is shady as f***.
