Just another 5 speed swap thread.

So it begins....

I'm collecting parts right now. Can't wait to get the 5 speed in. I mean I'm 21, what am I doing in an automatic? Haha.

M2L5 trans, supposedly in really good condition. If not I know where he lives lol. I decided m2l5 cuz I couldn't find an m2s4 and it was only $200 bucks plus great gas mileage for now and I want to turbo one day and most importantly it was inexpensive! Well honestly I paid $100 and gave him a used ps3 for it!

Re: Just another 5 speed swap thread.

Are you talking about the spacers that need to go in so the clutch doesn't slip? I keep reading and reading so I don't miss as much as I can. The actuall swap will probably be in about two weeks.

Btw do I need a new harness or will my auto one still work. If not can I use a h23 harness?

Re: Just another 5 speed swap thread.

The clutch pedal assembly that you get will...or should have...a space above it for a bolt to go into...look at my thread. It got hard to shift in 1st and reverse...you've gotta brace the clutch pedal assembly so the entire assembly is stiff.

Hard Shifting into 1st and reverse

to answer your second question, as far as your harness...are you talking about the ecu harness or the TCU harness...if its the TCU then you can sell or throw that away, i kept mine. You can either mod or change out the ECU, I modded my ECU and it works fine (changing cost too much for me). i would use rom pirates swap guide...if you're not already using it...i did.

Re: Just another 5 speed swap thread.

I'm getting the clutch pedal Assembly from a 4th gen, almost all my parts are coming from a fourth actually.

Trans, pedal assembly, half shaft, shift linkage, shift assembly, all coming out of a 4th gen.

Bad news tho, the trans I bought has 3 bolt holes that got broken off. But I'm gunna see how much I can get it repaired for.

Look at where the vss goes or where the bolts from the half shaft go into. That's where it's broken. It's on the top of the pic

Re: Just another 5 speed swap thread.

Little update. Gunna go out to a local aluminum welder to see if I can get the trans repaired. If so I should be grabbing more parts later this week and I'm buying my clutch on Monday. I'm getting prelude anxiety haha

you will, i did, my lude was down a couple of weeks before i could get parts from the junk yard and other sources, its a tough road but well worth the time. Good Luck.

oh and i had trouble with the starter so instead of trying to figure it out, there's a link out there somewhere but i just couldn't get it to start, so i just converted to push to start...you'll still need the key in the ignition, which is good, IMO.

Re: Just another 5 speed swap thread.

Lmao I'm going to be so cool with my push start. Actually I was looking at a legit push button starting system. My mother in law has a 2013 journey with a proximity senser linked from the key to the doors along with the ignition. I want to put that into my Lude to bring it into the 21st century:D
