Icon1 First changes to Bone stock lude.

Okay so I'm new to this forum thing and relatively new to the car scene period but I'm learning pretty fast. Anyway I was just sitting here bored thinking about my lude and I don't know where to start at because when I go to debate it a thousand ideas pop into my head. So just figured I'd ask everyone, what their first changes to the 5th gens were?
Whether it be something oem that should be changed before modding anything or your first aftermarket mods. I just want to know. So what did everybody change first?

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

I still haven't changed anything on my Lude but I will definitely get some OEM 'upgrades' lol.

Planning to get the honeycomb grill with Prelude emblem up front and get my windows tinted.

I MIGHT lower my car an inch or two and get some wheels but I'm still debating... Might keep her all stock besides what I just said

when i bought the car it already had a CAI and catback on it...I

changed the Headlights to HID and my sideviews are carbon fiber.."ONLY" because it was the cheapest option at the time because someone was being a jack@$$ and broke one of my OEM Mirrors...still on the lookout for OEM...cause their expensive as fack...

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

Paint & Body was my first Mod done to the car. after that Rotors. I started with what needed to be fixed first so that I could drive it regularly.

bassically i adressed the NEEDS and Maintenance first. then the Wants

^this is the best thing that you can do first.

Everything beyond these items should be addressed by what you are trying to do with the car. Since I got my car I got the following work done in this order:
-Tune up
-Water pump/Timing belt change
-Sound system (gotta have the tunes!)
-Wheels/tires
-Radiator
-Engine swap

After I get my car back up from the swap I need to get my suspension replaced. After that, barring nothing else breaks on it, I will get in the paint/body work and then the performance.

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

First thing I did was get rid of the chrome intake pipe and install the stock air box. I did keep the slotted rotors.

Then I went about fixing broken stuff, replacing moldings etc while deciding in what modest mods will take place.

I put on good tires, cleaned up the car and began restoring the car, which when time comes for this n that I'll decide mod or replace with oem.

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

I plastidipped my roof and trunk black, I love this stuff none of its permanent. Turned out making the car look better and I covered up the old faded pink/red paint.

Also the next mod I'm doing is a 5 speed swap. If your Lude is an auto 5th gen start looking into this now

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

I did a semi-full tune up (wires, plugs, cap and rotor, water pump, timing belt, etc.) ALL but the valve clearance check thing.
Also around the same time i upgraded my sound system. Gotta have it running well and sounding great! :D

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

As someone new to ludes, I've found the factory suspension lacking what I desire. Lots of roll and little feedback. Even with tein springs and front strut tower brace it's still not acceptable. I'd recommend tires and suspension.

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

my recommendation will be to check an engine´s both top and low end state and wear. If is not very good - replace engine components with new ones - oiginal japanese or aftermarket.

Re: First changes to Bone stock lude.

Sorry guys I woulda replied sooner but I had a busy day. And my bad I didn't even state what I have, I have a 97 eucalyptus green 5 speed. It has 151k and is running smooth except I'm having alotta stiffness at the shifter so I changed out the mtf to synchromesh (heard tons of good stuff) last week it seemed to help a little, didn't diminish it completely as I'd hoped for but oh well. And yes I think the first major thing I will do is the timing belt and water pump considering idk when it was replaced and I don't want that bad boy snappin lol but so far I've did nothing I WANTED to do until today when I finally got to fix and plastidip my rashed up wheels. lol but my NEEDS so far have been That the day I bought it a piece of the radiator snapped so I replaced that (new oem one) and i had to cut an inch off a hose cause the clamp cut through it. I've changed mtf and bled the clutch and replaced that fluid as well in hopes to help out the shifting. I look at my lude like I found a pearl lol one that an old lady owned hahah but like Lazarky said I am trying to find anything that NEEDS replaced before I go doing unnecessary stuff just to make it better. And i also agree with the need for better suspension and yeah the stock system is decent but dammit no way to plug my phone in and I don't have a way to make CDs rite now so my tunes suck rite now lol I'm just tryna see what everyone thinks cause I've wanted the car so long I've had a thousand ideas and now that I got it I can't figure out wat to do, ironic huh lol
