Icon5 losing power bogging at high rpms

OK so I got a good deal on an sh so I bought it. Got it home an it did fine until revers went out. So car seat for 3 weeks before I got around to fixing it.Before I tore into the tranny took it for a drive just to remember how she run horrible ! It was not at all what it was when I parked it!
This is what its doing : right before VTEC kicks in it wants to bog down 1st an 2nd gear it'll hit VTEC 3 gear it wont.Even if I dump the cluch in first gear I almost cried its that bad but will build up some what. Bogs down bad an maybe the cel will flash a few times right before it starts boggin at higher rpms. Will not pick up rpms very good half the power it used to be:( I was doing some research an it kinda sounded like the knock sensor but the only cel it through was the map sensor. Put on a new map sensor an reset everything no more cel. Still the same. This is my first sh an I not to sure about this atts unit makes it really hard to work on.

So to be clear, your car was running "normal" right before you parked it, and when you went to drive it after you parked it for a few weeks, it started acting like this?

Re: losing power bogging at high rpms

Yeap no problems before I parked it I've did the regular tune ups. It starts of slow builds speed acts funny right before VTEC in 1st gear 2nd gear sometimes VTEC engages 3rd gear it won't engage at all. At 5200 rpms in 3rd gear it just bogs down. When I go from 4th to 3rd an try to get rpms over 5000 its just like the car dies until I get below 5000 rpms an then it'll pick up again.

Shot in the dark, sounds almost like the vtec solenoid could be giving you problems. The screen in it could be gunked up and not getting oil pressure. Maybe low oil pressure in general. You have enough oil in the motor? It hard to diagnose without being there. No there codes at all though? Knock sensor could also be bringing the timing back not allowing vtec to change over.

No codes at all an full of oil. The only code was a map sensor fixed an cleared off. I got to do a lil more research on the screen just to see what I'm dealing with. I'm gonna go ahead an do the knock sensor just to have it done.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the best VTEC solenoid threads???

OK so today I cleaned the screen in the VTEC it wasn't all that bad but had some stuff in it. I think its gonna be tough an take me a few to do the knock sensor since its a sh car but I'm gonna get on it first thing tomorrow.

Re: losing power bogging at high rpms

Car still acting up? Did u look at your spark plugs, cap and rotor? Like I said, I was guessing about the vtec solenoid. Its not hard to get to so I thought it was worth a look. The knock sensor i would think throws a code. Good luck. As u know they are a pain to get to. Post if u figure it out.
