Icon5 Funky sound when accelerating or going uphill...

I have an issue with my car that, has me quite confused here. Say I just start my car up in the morning, no problems, all my gears are smooth as can be. Getting into first gear is no problem either. After about 2-5 minutes of driving, getting into first gear starts being trouble sum... The engine bay will start jumping pretty violent if I do not rev my engine to at least 2,500RPM before letting off my clutch, only then will first gear transition smoothly. I had this problem since I got the car. Well, lately, another issue has appeared and may be linked together. When accelerating or going uphill, I get this funky, growling, vibrating noise from the driver side front, and I can feel it in the gas pedal, likely because it may be a vibration. Something shaking. However, if I am in neutral sitting still, and rev the engine. I could do it all day and get no sound. The sound only appears when I am accelerating! Or going uphill, and that is when it's the worst. Sounds like a damn ban-saw on metal. It does this through all gears. However if I'm on a flat road, not really accelerating and just maintaining speed, no sound. So it seem to only be when the engine has a heavy load on it. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Could it possibly be my clutch going bad? Just hasn't gone bad yet?

Edit: re-read your post...
Driver side.. do you have the SH model? Atts is on the driver side of the differential.

I'm thinking axle or wheel bearing for the sound but the quake-ing engine bay and the trouble with gears after driving says 'clutch'... that's on the other side.

Does it make a clunk, clunk, clunk sound when you make a hard left or right at low speed? Axle wear.

Weird bro. Sorry for the vague response.

Sounds like you should see a good mechanic.

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Re: Funky sound when accelerating or going uphill...

Nothing is wrong with my suspension, no sounds taking hard turns or hitting harsh bumps. Nothing tugging at the wheel, nothing dragging.

However today I realized a sound getting into gear, I hear a rattle as I get into first gear, but also, I can not always get into first gear, I push the clutch down, and push into first, but it only goes half way. Let off the clutch push it in again, and it lets me go through, there is no grinding or anything like that, just refuses to go into first some times.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th are smooth as can be. Well actually now that I think about it, I sometimes have a hard time getting into gear when coasting in neutral and not going fast enough for 3rd but not slow enough for 2nd if that makes sense.

My Prelude is not the SH model, just base. 2001 Honda Prelude base. H22A motor.

Re: Funky sound when accelerating or going uphill...

I found out it's my throw back bearing (Release bearing) that is going bad, so I am going to go ahead and replace my clutch disk, flywheel, release bearing and see if that does the trick. I will update you guys.
