P13 ECU Question

If I use an OBD2 P13 ECU from a 96 prelude with no immobilizer in my 2000 base model prelude will this eliminate my need for transponder keys? I have been having a no start condition for awhile. When my friend researched it on identifix everything he searched said it sounded like an immobilizer problem. Just want to make sure that switching to the non-immobilized ECU will make the immobilizer system useless in the car. Just trying to avoid taking the car into the dealership to have them install a completely new immobilizer system since I don't have a red learning key. Any advice on these would be much appreciated!

Re: P13 ECU Question

Sure you can de-imobilize your car... talk to a locksmith... he/she'll either fix or eliminate your issue for a helluva a lot less than a new imobilizer... from the dealer...

When you turn your key to start the car, what does the green lamp do?

All Gen. Prelude Service Manuals
^^ service manual has a trouble shoot section.

Some folks have chipped keys from other vehicles on the same ring as their 5th gen prelude. Believe it or not, that can cause the imobilizer to malfunction...

No offense to your 'friend' but removing the imobilizer is not a great idea unless you never park your hot rod outdoors and always keep it in plain sight.

So I've had the immobilizer unit that's to the left of the steering wheel under the dash reflashed to a new key. The engine cranks like it wants to turnover but it only sparks for a couple of seconds. The immobilizer acts like it's working, blinks 5 times after going from the 2 to 0 position on the ignition. I believe the issue is in the ECU but might be mistaken. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've tried the bypass sequence from honda with no success either. Granted I've read that it uses the brake on one forum and the e-brake on another so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I know my e-brake light is constantly on in the dash when the car is in the on position which could be part of that issue with the bypass not working.
