4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

Has anyone installed a 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen? If so what has to be modified?

4th & 5th gen. radiator diff - Honda Prelude Forum
^^ This mentions differing mounting points. But you are doing right much custom work, so it may fill your bill.

Haven't seen where anybody actually did it though.

Re: 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

Thanks. I ran across that thread, but looks like no one has done an actual comparison. I'm thinking that I may have to go a custom route. Thanks again!

Re: 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

I want to say they're different where the bottom would normally sit in the welded on brackets but can't recall 100%

That's what I was thinking too, but I think the overall height and width may be different as well.

Re: 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

Download a service manual for both gens. Get the measurements, and fill them into pics you printed if you wish. There you go....

I've never seen the radiator measurements in the service manual. Can you link to it, or tell me the page #?

x2

I'd be interested in this as well. My helms doesn't seem to have it. Only capacity for misc things.

Although, you having a 4th gen, you could simply go out and measure for us.

Re: 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

I'm wondering if it's going to be easier to have a custom Griffen radiator made that'll fit between the core supports with an extra thick core.

Re: 4Gen radiator into a 5Gen

Could be what others did or similar... hence no definitive answer to your original question.

That would give you more space between the radiator and turbo as well as have an alternate location for the upper hose going to the head.
