Re: limited slip differental

No.

The Type-SH isn't an LSD anyways. It's ATTS, and wouldn't work without a plethora of wiring, sensors, a Type-SH (or Type-S) block, and the ECU. I believe I read before that you race these around a dirt track and pretty much destroy them (punishable by death as outlined in my election leaflet), so a base to SH build would definitely be a waste of time and effort.

Your options are a Honda factory LSD transmission, or, an aftermarket LSD installed in a non-LSD Honda transmission.

Personally, I would ditch the lude for pretty much all of what you're doing and buy a cavalier or something... ...anything but the lude.

Not sure if being sarcastic or...

I'll say this though; Look at what he uses his lude for. As a preservationist of these cars, I'd rather see a car I don't like driven into the ground.

Re: limited slip differental

We all have opinions and i wont judge. I take these cars which are destine to get crushed at the scrapper and resurrect them for two more years. I figured you would be on my side. There is only a few of use honda lovers out there and all off my competitors all drive neons or cavaliers. I really dont want to buy one of those cars and join thrie forum. On another note everyone is getting faster and wiser and getting there limited slip differentals since were not allowed to have locked differentals. My question is where do i get these limited slip differentals for my base 1997 manual prelude?

Re: limited slip differental

If you have an LSD you are automatically driving the car into the ground? What a load of crap.

For what reason do you need an LSD? The intended use makes a big difference on what LSD you should get.

The viscous diff found in most Lude LSD gearboxes is a bit crap. It will only operate where one wheel is spinning significantly faster than the other.

A torsen LSD like the Quaife/Mfacotry/Wavetrack (which needs to be installed in an OEM non-LSD gearbox) is better in that it has the ability to split the torque whenever it wants. The U2Q7 gearbox in the Accord Type-R/Euro-R has this diff from the factory. The downside to this diff is that if one wheel comes off the ground the diff is not operating.

A clutch pack diff like the Kaaz is the best performance diff (and needs to be installed in an OEM non-LSD gearbox), it does what it wants when it wants regardless of one wheel off the ground or not. The downside to this diff is that it is the most expensive, needs specific transmission fluid, requires regular maintenance, and is noisy and uncomfortable at low speeds.

If you took Preludes that were destined for the crusher and restored them, we'd have more in common, and I'd be your number one fan.

I know I have answered this question at least once in the ~3 three threads you have made on this topic.

MFactory - I have this one. $680
Quafe - Very expensive
OBX - A direct copy of the Quafe with throw-away build quality.

Re: limited slip differental

If you're looking for an MFactory LSD, let me know. :)

Kaaz and Cusco also make LSDs to fit the Prelude (note that the ones listed above are Torsen diffs, the Kaaz and Cusco are clutch pack LSDs). I have a Kaaz in my car now, but plan to put an MFactory clutch pack LSD in my new trans.
